A New Chapter in Madrid: Finding My Place

There is something both exciting and terrifying about starting over somewhere new.

A new city.
New streets.
New routines.
New faces.

And, for me, a new photography community.

After years of photographing beautiful people, couples, families, and unforgettable stories in Cozumel and the Riviera Maya, I recently found myself standing at the beginning of a completely different chapter: Madrid.

And suddenly, I am a photographer in a city where practically no one knows my name.

It is humbling.

It is exciting.

And honestly, it feels a little bit like starting all over again.

Being the new photographer in town

When you've spent years building a photography business, you become familiar with your surroundings.

You know the beautiful locations. You know where the light is best at sunset. You recognize returning clients. You have friends who recommend you to friends. You become part of a community.

Then one day, you move.

And all of that familiarity disappears.

Here in Madrid, I'm slowly learning the city one street, one neighborhood, one coffee shop, and one photo walk at a time.

I'm discovering new places to photograph. I'm learning how the light moves through this city. I'm finding little corners that make me stop and think, I need to come back here with a camera!

And I'm reminding myself that being new isn't necessarily a disadvantage.

Maybe it's an invitation.

An invitation to explore.

To be curious.

To meet people I would never have crossed paths with before.

To photograph stories I've never photographed before.

I'm looking for new faces and new stories

One of the most beautiful things about photography is that every person brings something completely different in front of the camera.

That's something I never want to take for granted.

So, as I begin this new chapter as a photographer in Madrid, I'm opening my calendar to new people who want photographs that feel totally like them.

Couples wandering through Madrid together.

People celebrating a new chapter in their lives.

Maternity sessions filled with anticipation.

Families laughing, moving, and being themselves.

Solo portraits for someone who simply wants to see themselves with love.

Travelers who want to remember how Madrid felt.

And maybe even people who have never had professional photographs taken before.

My approach to photography has always been about creating images that feel natural, emotional, and honest. I love movement, imperfect moments, beautiful light, little details, and the things that happen in between the poses.

Moving to a new country has also made me realize how important it is to find people who make you feel comfortable when you're far from home.
